NATIONAL YOUTH DAY-2020

                                                                                            National Youth Day 2020
The National Youth Day observance was inaugurated by Hon. Minister for Health and Social Justice at Kannur. The theme for this year’s youth day was “Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building”. The inaugural function was held at the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce at Kannur and was organized by KSACS along with the District Medical Officer and District AIDS Control Officer. The event also saw the flag off of Aardram people’s campaign at the district level.
 
At the event that was held earlier in the day, there was a rally organized by various Red Ribbon clubs in colleges and other institutes with RRC in their respective organizations. The rally saw participation from Student Police Cadets, volunteers from Blood Donor agencies and also saw people from different walks of life take part in the rally.

The public function for National youth Day was held at the same venue and was inaugurated by Smt. KK Shailaja Teacher, the honorable minister for Health, Social Justice and Women and Child Development. At the event the Sri Ramachandran Kadanaplly (Minister for Ports, Museums, Archeology and Archives) was also present and spoke of the best practices that the state had been practicing for few years and which had won laurels all over the world. At the event later the minister for Health elaborated on the work being done by KSACS and the overall health scenario in the state where it had achieved standards that are considered equivalent to Nordic countries.
 
The awards for best performers were also handed over during the inaugural function by the Hon. Minister. Some of the awards that were given away include the first prize for districts that held best World AIDS Day programs, Best ICTC centers. Best Targeted Intervention Projects.
The award ceremony was followed by Elecution and Debate Competitions and also cultural activities by different colleges.
As part of the day observance a blood donation drive was also arranged. The Blood Donation camp was held at the Venue as well as on the Blood mobile which was arranged at the Venue by KSACS.

A voluntary Blood donation drive was also conducted at the venue where around 30 units of Blood were voluntary donated by students and people who attended the event. People who donated blood were given certificates and also provided refreshments at the venue. A total of 54 units were collected at the venue and at the camp held with the help of the staff from District hospital Thalassery and General Hospital Kannur. The voluntary donation camps reported a higher percentage of college going youth willing to donate blood.
